Editorial changes
I am pleased to welcome Toshihiro Ohta, of the Tokyo University of Life Science, as a new Senior Editor of Mutagenesis. Toshihiro has previously been an Associate Editor of the journal and has also served on the Editorial Board for several years. His expertise is in bacterial mutagenesis and he has experience of the academic, regulatory and industrial fields. His appointment will further enhance the journal's commitment to serving the mutagenesis community and of maintaining and enhancing its international standing in the field of mutagenesis research.
At the same time, Makoto Hayashi, of the National Institute of Health Sciences, Tokyo, is stepping down as a Senior Editor, due to other work commitments. Makoto has served the journal with distinction for many years, handling all submissions to the journal originating from Japan prior to the introduction of online submission and peer review. On behalf of the Editorial Board, I would like to thank Makoto for his valuable contribution to the journal, and I am pleased that he has agreed to continue his association with the journal by joining the Editorial Board.
I am also pleased to welcome several new members to the Editorial Board and I, along with the Senior Editors, look forward to working with them. They are: Fred Beland (USA), Stefano Bonassi (Italy), David DeMarini (USA), Maria Dusinska (Slovakia), Peter Farmer (UK), Tim Gant (UK), Nigel Gooderham (UK), Chris Jones (UK), Nigel Jones (UK), Seigfried Knasmüller (Austria), Miriam Poirier (USA), Peter Schmezer (Germany), Ronald Snyder (USA), Frederik-Jan van Schooten (The Netherlands), Chris Wild (UK) and Alison Wolfreys (UK).
Finally, I would like to thank all authors and reviewers who have made the transition from mail submission of manuscripts to online submission and peer review, introduced a few months ago, go smoothly. The handling time for manuscripts is now significantly less and, as a further service to researchers, the journal will now publish electronically ahead of print accepted papers, as soon as corrected proofs are returned by the authors, thereby increasing the immediacy of papers published in the journal.
